Christmas means different things to many people, for some, it’s that time of the year to get out the Christmas trees, sing carols, roast the turkeys and bring the family together, to others it means Santa clause is visiting. While many recognise that Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, some only see it as no more than the annual rendezvous with its accompanying excitement. The symbol and message of Christmas is often lost in its exuberant celebrations. The reason for the season as it has been for generations, remains Christ; the son of God; the light of the world and a shining hope to all mankind, whereby God sacrificed his son for the salvation of humanity. For those who already accept this simple message, don’t forget to take time to reflect soberly in thanksgiving for the great redemption, and to those who embrace only the merriment of the season, I say to you, you can enjoy the best of both worlds, celebrate the occasion while also benefitting from the greatest gift to the world, that is, Jesus Christ; the path to eternal glory!
